Gale Bernard Picha

July 12, 1940 - January 30, 2026

Gale Bernard Picha, born July 12, 1940, passed away January 30, 2026 at The Gardens of Winsted.  

Gale lived with his parents, Arthur and Lydia (Pokorny) Picha, siblings Lloyd "Bud" Picha, John Picha and Roy Picha until early adulthood. Gale was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lloyd Picha and sister-in-law, Sharon Picha, John Picha and Roy Picha.

As a young child, Gale was struck with polio which followed him throughout his life.  But it did not stop him from enjoying life throughout his early school years and even graduating from Silver Lake High School.  Many school mates remember him well and often was referred to as the “class clown.”  Reaching adult age, Gale has lived in various assisted living homes.  He worked for many years at ATHC in Hutchinson.  While working there Gale gained valuable friendships with his co-workers and caregivers.  Gale had a heart of gold and was a “friend to all.”  Most recently, Gale lived in Averyon Homes in Hutchinson, Prairie Community Services, Inc. in Fairfax and the Gardens in Winsted.  Gale loved to go out for meals, coffee time, with his caregivers and his house-mates.  He loved the activities the assisted living homes provided such as bowling, birthday parties, etc.  He also loved watching the Twins and had the opportunity several times to attend their games.  Everyone who knew him, loved him as a friend.

Gale participated in the activities that his care givers provided and looked forward to those opportunities.  He was a "social butterfly" and always wanted to visit with friends and family.  He loved all kinds of music and was known to play his CDs daily in his room.

As the years rolled by, Gale found his health deteriorating and his spirit of life getting weaker.  Over the last several months, hospice care was provided to Gale.  He slowly became weaker and succumbed to death in the early morning hours of Friday, January 30, 2026.  Blessed be his memory,  we will all miss you!!

Funeral services for Gale Picha will be held on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake with Reverend Laura Messer officiating.

Private interment Bohemian National Cemetery.

 A visitation will be held from 1 - 2 P.M.  at the funeral home
